Outdoor construction in winter is a very mature and important market in Europe and America (Canada, the northern part of the United States, Northern Europe, Russia, and Eastern Europe).
The biggest difference between it and ordinary construction is that while ordinary buildings focus on preventing being hit, punctured, and slipping, winter construction adds requirements for low temperatures, waterproofing, anti-freezing, preventing ice surface slips, and providing warmth and comfort.
For outdoor construction in winter, mid-calf or high-top boots are more preferred , the high heels can prevent snow water from entering the shoes ; the higher the upper of the shoes, the larger the coverage area, which can reduce the entry of cold air ; in winter, there are many frozen surfaces and frozen soil, making the feet prone to slipping, mid-calf and high-calf boots increase stability ; winter workers usually wear thick wool socks, and high-calf boots are more suitable for this.

I. Shoe Upper Material Requirements:
Key features of winter shoe uppers: Waterproof + Insulation + Resistance to Low Temperatures.
Firstly, we recommend Full Grain Waterproof Leather. it has the advantages of being waterproof, wear-resistant, and having stable low-temperature performance. it is superior to ordinary PU leather.
Secondly, Nubuck Waterproof Leather is widely used in winter boots in Europe and America. it is soft, warm, and has a good appearance.
Thirdly, Waterproof Microfiber is suitable for lightweight winter shoes.
It is not recommended to use large areas of Mesh net fabric on the entire shoe surface. in winter, it absorbs water, freezes hard, and provides poor warmth retention.
For outdoor construction in winter, it is not enough to only consider the waterproofing of the shoe upper; a Waterproof Membrane is also necessary. for instance, the waterproof sock structure aims to prevent snow water from entering through the stitching lines.
Common structure: Leather → Waterproof Membrane → Insulation Inner Layer → Foot.
II. Shoe Toe Cap Material :
Steel Toe remains the mainstream in the construction industry, with low cost and high value for money.
However, the market for composite toes has seen a significant increase in winter, as they are non-conductive of cold and lighter. therefore, there are an increasing number of high-end winter safety boots such as Composite Toe + Kevlar.
III. Midsole Material :
For winter construction, we recommend using Kevlar Anti-Puncture Midsole. it is puncture-resistant, lightweight, soft, and has good warmth retention. Kevlar does not conduct heat away as quickly as steel plates.
Steel midsoles are still available in the lower-end market, but they offer a poor experience in cold regions.
IV. Shoe Outsole Material :
The first choice is Cold Resistant Rubber. ordinary rubber tends to harden at low temperatures and loses its grip when going downhill. however, cold-resistant rubber remains soft and can fully utilize its advantages of being wear-resistant, slip-resistant and having strong grip.
The functional requirements for the sole of winter boots and shoes include anti-slip, oil resistance and wear resistance.
Requirements for sole patterns: we recommend Deep Lug + Self Cleaning. this will not only facilitate snow and mud removal but also enhance grip. unlike the low-tooth patterns commonly found on regular boots, deep patterns are more necessary for winter boots to ensure better performance in cold weather.
V. Inner Material (Determine the selling price) :
